The Boulder Eats! exhibit at the Museum of Boulder celebrates the food traditions along the front range. Savor was responsible for the restaurant portion fo the exhibit, focusing on the history of Boulder’s culinary history and the people behind it. Featuring stories from more than 150 local restaurants and 82 contributed objects, the exhibit brings together generations of chefs, restaurateurs, and community members whose work has shaped the city’s identity.
This project was a was a collaboration between the Museum, Local journalist and historian John Lehndorff, and Savor Productions. Savor Productions led the curation and storytelling of the Dining Out section, dedicating hundreds of hours to research, narrative development, object sourcing, and exhibit design — well beyond the original scope. The goal was to create something that felt both historically grounded and deeply personal: an experience that honors the restaurant community with authenticity, care, and visual impact.
The result is a rich, immersive exhibit that invites visitors to reflect on Boulder through the lens of food—how we gather, celebrate, and connect. From archival materials to contemporary stories, every detail was crafted to feel intentional and rooted in the lived experiences of the community.
The Grand Opening underscored the exhibit’s impact, drawing more than 350 attendees with a line stretching around the corner. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with guests expressing a strong sense of nostalgia, pride, and connection. The exhibit also received broad local press coverage, helping to amplify its reach across Boulder and beyond.
Throughout the process, the scale and complexity of the project required adaptability and close collaboration across multiple teams and stakeholders. As timelines compressed and priorities shifted, Savor stepped in to support areas beyond our initial scope—including marketing and communications—to help ensure a successful launch and strong community turnout.
Boulder Eats! stands as a meaningful tribute to Boulder’s restaurant community—past and present—and reflects the power of thoughtful storytelling, collaboration, and a shared commitment to honoring local culture.
